Machine Learning Researcher - ETH Zurich
Patrick Schwab is a researcher working on Machine Learning and Big Data Analytics for Healthcare at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. His research aims to improve the understanding of complex diseases by analysing patterns in heterogenous health data, such as continuous measurements from smart devices and electronic health records, on a large scale. His work is in close collaboration with medical researchers, clinical experts and industrial professionals from University Hospital Zurich, the Balgrist clinic and Hocoma AG.
To date, he has more than 5 years of industrial experience in using machine learning for automating business processes and engineering custom software solutions. Before joining ETH, he earned a Master’s degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in Computer Science with distinction from the University of Vienna, Austria, where he did research on artificial intelligence for autonomous agents and multimedia analytics. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with honours from Technikum Vienna, Austria.
He received several awards and honours over the course of his academic career, including five honorary scholarships for outstanding academic performance, membership in the prestigious NaturTalente high potential programme and the Department of Computer Science’s “Best of the Best Award” for graduating top of his class.
